Life in

Portugal

Taste the cataplana, a wonderful way to prepare fish. Fall in love with a romantic night in a pousada. Discover the Algarve in a different way than by its beaches. Explore the preserved coastline of the South West Alentejan Natural Park and the Vicentine Coast. Take the hiking trails around the walled city of Monsaraz. Follow the Alentejo wine route. Shedding a tear while humming a centuries-old fado in the shadow of the old walls of Coimbra. Boldly climbing the slopes of old Porto in a 1920's streetcar.

Transports in

Portugal

Car is the ideal mean of transportation to travel along the coast and venture off the beaten track. The road network is in good condition and you can travel perfectly well throughout the country. Trains are mainly used to travel around Lisbon, or to connect the capital to Coimbra-Guarda, Porto or Faro. There are several categories of trains: Intercidades, Regionais/Urbano and Inter-Regionais. There is also the Alfa Pendular, the cream of the crop. Portugal also has a dense bus network with more frequent passages than the trains.
